Story
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is a foundation dedicated to supporting The Royal Marsden, one of the world’s leading specialist cancer hospitals. Its goal is to fund research, care, treatment, and innovation so that people affected by cancer have better outcomes, not only at the Marsden itself but across the UK and internationally.
Having previously raised over £3,500 for pancreatic cancer by running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in 2024, I am now turning my efforts towards this incredible charity. This cause is particularly close to my heart as it specialises in curing all cancers, not just one. I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of cancer; a friend lost his wife earlier this year to breast cancer, and the effect on him, his family, and friends has been heartbreaking. I want to help in any way I can.
Another reason this charity is crucial to me is that they treated someone very dear to me when they were diagnosed with leukaemia as a young child. Thanks to The Royal Marsden, I have been privileged enough to love the incredible person they have become today.
I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 12th, 2026, proudly wearing the Royal Marsden Charity vest to raise awareness for this vital cause. My target is to raise £1,000 so we can all join together in battling this devastating disease.
I am super grateful for any donations that are given, thank you so much to all of you that contribute, it’s an uphill battle but together we can defeat this thing.
Thanks,
Ollie
