Story
I’m running the Yorkshire Marathon and aiming to raise £1,000 for OSCAR’s PBTC.
This charity is very close to my heart. OSCAR’s PBTC was founded in memory of Oscar Hughes, who sadly passed away from a brain tumor aged 9. You can see Oscar in the included photo furthest the left, then me, Oscar's brother, and my brother.
I was friends with Oscar’s brother Seb through primary school and I have funny memories of them both - watching Ben 10, lots of Playmobil, and fighting on a sofa (and perhaps getting in trouble with his mum)…
Oscar was always full of energy and everyone said he was incredible at sports. His passing was a complete shock. I’ve always remembered the Hughes family as some of the kindest people I’ve ever known. So I’m running this Marathon in memory of Oscar, for his brother, and for his family.
I’ve followed OSCAR’s since it was founded 12 years ago, and I wanted to something challenging and BIG for them. I completed a half marathon in 2024 and raised £2,200 in memory of my friend Will Helstrip. This time I want to go further and a marathon seemed the perfect way to do that!
I’ve been training as much as possible and I aim to finish with a decent time. But if I can raise some money for OSCAR’s and cross the finish line at all, then that's all that matters.
OSCAR’s provides vital support and funds research for children with brain tumors and their families. Please donate to help fund this incredible work. Every penny of your donation will keep me running faster and longer… Thank you!
