Story
10 years ago, I left Riverdale Hospital after spending 140 days there recovering from Anorexia.
Back then, I couldn't have imagined the life I have now — and definitely not running a marathon. But this October, I’ll be doing exactly that: taking on the York Marathon to raise money for Beat, the UK’s leading eating disorder charity.
Anorexia still has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. With around 1.25 million people in the UK currently living with an eating disorder, the need for support has never been greater.
Beat was a huge part of my recovery — and they’re there every day for others, offering hope, guidance, and help when it’s needed most. Whether it’s someone at the beginning of their journey or a family struggling to know what to do, Beat shows up and works alongside specialist hospitals. That’s why I want to give something back.
Running this marathon feels like a way to honour the journey, mark 10 years in recovery, and raise £750 to help Beat keep doing what they do so well.
If you can donate, share, or simply cheer me on, I’d be incredibly grateful.
Let’s help more people get the support they deserve — and remind them that recovery is absolutely possible. 💜
