Story

The boys first challenge was Scafell Pike, which they completed September 2022 (aged 8 and 4) as a way to commemorate the Queens reign and sad passing. The route was not without its challenges and there were some moments when the boys felt as though they could not go on. Particularly on the approach to the Lingmell summit (807m). However, they both pushed through and managed to complete the fantastic achievement. In total, we walked for 11 miles, 8.5 hours and, with the rise of fall of the peaks, completed a total ascent of 1712m!!

The second challenge of Snowdon, which we decided to undertake on the weekend of the Kings Coronation, in May 2023 (aged 9 and 5) was a significant achievement for the boys as they completed the Watkins Path, commonly regarded as one of the harder routes to the summit. This was our second attempt at Snowdon, due to severe winds and rain causing us to turn back at the half way point in October 2022 and we are so proud of both boys for not letting our first experience deter them from giving it a second go. In total we walked for 12.93 miles, 10 hours and, with the rise and fall of the route, completed a total ascent of 2730m!!

Both Oliver & Nikolas decided they wanted to complete the famous 3 peaks, with Ben Nevis being the final challenge, by the end of summer 2023 (we are currently aiming for this in June).

To make this final summit extra special, the boys would like to try and earn a little bit of money for charity and turn the challenge into a fundraising event.

Cancer Research UK was chosen by Oliver. When asked why he chose this charity, this was his response:

"I do not feel comfortable with death and I enjoy seeing lots of people living life, whether I know them or not"

We explained what 'fundraising' meant to Nikolas and asked why we should do it and he said "To make poorly people better".

Like many families, we all know someone who has been affected by Cancer, ours included. If we can make just a little bit of a difference, doing something that we were aiming to do anyway, then it will make it much more worthwhile.
