Story
As some of you may know, I ran the Denbies Ultra which as just over 50k last year, raising an incredible £2,587 for Inflammatory Breast Cancer.
In 6 Weeks time I will be running the London to Brighton 100k Event. This will be the toughest event yet, especially with just under 2 months to prepare.
This event is extra special, as I’m not only running it for the personal challenge, but also to raise much needed funds for IBC Network UK. This charity is very close to our families heart since my Mums diagnosis in 2023.
The charity is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, where the 5 year survival rate is only 48%.
Sadly there is still absolutely no government funding for IBC, even though it accounts for 10% of all breast cancer deaths. This appalling situation results in the absence of any IBC research in the UK, any IBC specific NICE guidelines and due to no education at med school, there is limited knowledge by very few clinicians in the UK.
Every donation makes a difference, and your generosity will directly help those battling IBC. I’m aiming to raise £500 to support the ongoing work of IBC Network UK, and I would be so grateful for your support.
Thank you for all your encouragement as I prepare for this challenge!
