Back on my feet for Nightingale House – Pilgrim’s Trail Marathon Challenge

PLU Pilgrims Trail Marathon · 7 June 2025
Six months ago, I underwent total hip replacement surgery. Since then, I’ve been on a determined journey to rebuild my strength and return to running and have decided to take on the Pilgrim's Trail Marathon, covering the stunning yet challenging Welsh coastal path from Yr Eifl to Aberdaron.
I’m running not just for myself, but for the patients and families who rely on the vital services of Nightingale House Hospice, today and in the future. As someone who sees the impact of the hospice’s work every day, I know how much of a difference it makes to those living with a progressive or life-limiting illness. It’s about dignity, compassion, and helping people live well, despite their diagnosis.
Delivering this care comes at a cost. This year alone, it will cost £5.6 million to run the hospice, and with only 20% funded by the Welsh Government, that leaves £4.6 million to be raised through fundraising and donations.
My fundraising will be part of the hospice's Longest Day Lasting Care campaign, and thanks to the generosity of corporates, benefactors, and philanthropists, every donation I receive will be match funded, doubling the impact of your gift.
Your support will help Nightingale House to continue providing outstanding care, free of charge, to those who need it most. Whether it’s wellbeing, alternative therapies, rehabilitation, symptom management, emotional support, or end-of-life care, every penny truly makes a difference.
Thank you so much for your support!
