Help Olivia Make a Difference: Volunteering in Ghana This Summer

Warwick in Africa · 31 July 2025
This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to volunteer in Ghana for 6 weeks as part of the Warwick in Africa programme, where I will be teaching maths to students in under-resourced schools. Being Ghanaian myself, this programme holds deep personal significance—education has the power to transform lives, and I am in a position to give back to a community that means so much to me.
Warwick in Africa (WiA) is a holistic educational programme that extends far beyond the student volunteer initiative—it also includes Lead Teacher Support and Teacher Support programmes. Since 2006, WiA has benefited over 130,000 students and trained 5,000 teachers across Ghana, South Africa, and Tanzania, creating long-term, sustainable improvements in education.
A key part of my role as a volunteer is to help raise funds and awareness for WiA. Donations contribute directly to improving education in these communities by providing essential teaching resources, funding for schools, and training for teachers. For example, £10 can fund a child's education for a month, and £150 could provide a school with a grant for vital resources like new chalkboards or sports equipment. Your support will not only enhance learning experiences for students but also help WiA expand its reach and impact even more schools across Africa.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a real difference. If you're unable to donate, even sharing this page would mean so much. Thank you for your kindness and generosity—together, we can create lasting change.
