Story
This ride is for Winnie - our reason, our strength and our motivation.
A group of people who love Winnie, including Daddy and a very nervous Grandad, are coming together to take part in the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s yearly ride out (GYRO) on Sunday 19th July 2026. Each person will be cycling either 30, 60 or 90 miles through Cumbria, united by one purpose - to give something back.
We are riding to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, an incredible charity that was there for our family when we needed them most. Their speed, skill and compassion changes lives in the most frightening moments, and we will never forget what they did for our Winnie.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Winnie had a seizure back in September that lasted over an hour and resulted in her stopping breathing and needing CPR, despite the best efforts of the ground ambulance crew. The Air Ambulance team arrived and quickly decided they needed to intubate and place Winnie into an induced coma, this quick decision making and their capabilities were what saved our baby’s life.
Every mile we ride is powered by love for our whirlwind Winnie, and every donation helps keep this vital service flying for other families facing their own worst days. Thank you for supporting us, and for helping a charity that truly gives families wings when they need them most.
