Story
Lifecentre is a Sussex based charity that dedicates itself to supporting those whose lives have been devastated by the effects of unwanted sexual experiences. They provide face-to-face counselling for survivors of all ages and genders and their supporters, as well as a free telephone helpline and text helpline. These specialist counselling services are offered regardless of gender, religion, disability or background. They also heavily rely on donations to be able to provide services to as many survivors in desperate need of support.
I was a client at the LifeCentre back in 2020 and have always wanted to give something back to this charity due to the immense amount of support and care they gave me. It’s a bit delayed as it’s now 2024, but I wanted to do this in a time when I was ready, as it was still a touchy subject back in 2020.
Myself and my esteemed friend from Bedford Harriers Running Club, Rob Burrells, aim to attempt the 4 X 4 X 48 Challenge, which is running 4 miles, every 4 hours, for 48 hours to raise money for and awareness of the services that LifeCentre offers, but also to inspire those who may be at the start of what was my journey, to help see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Last year I completed the 24 hour version to test the waters ready for this year, and it was definitely a challenging event - more mentally than physically! I have been training a lot and am excited to see the potential for this year.
We aim to start the challenge on the evening of Friday 3rd May, and will be finishing on the afternoon of Sunday the 5th May. The target amount is £2,500. Your support will help to continue offering vital support to survivors and their supporters. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by unwanted sexual experiences.
Join me in this meaningful cause and contribute towards creating a safe space for survivors to heal and thrive.
If anyone wants to join us in running one, or even some of the 4 mile runs, you are more than welcome! If anything, it will help a LOT during the challenge! Just send a message and we’ll give you more details!
