St Albans Sleep Out 2023, 10 November 2023
The aim of the St Albans Sleepout is to raise awareness of homelessness in Hertfordshire, to come together as a community for the community.

Story

This will be my 5th time sleeping out for Open Door! Since my first sleep out in 2019 all in all I’ve raised around £1,000 in total over the years and each year I aim to raise more than the previous 👀😂 Open Door have helped get people off the streets and by sleeping out for just one night of the year it helps raise awareness and money to help more people! 🥰🏡

Please keep reading for more info on Open Door and what they do ❤️

The Open Door night shelter on Bricket Road can accommodate 12 people year round, but for the sixth winter running the charity will provide extra beds throughout the coldest season. This year the charity will be partnering with Emmaus, St Saviours and St Albans Council to deliver the project.

The Winter Beds Project provides people who would otherwise be rough sleeping with self contained sleeper cabins. Each cabins provides secure, Covid safe accommodation with heating, electricity and en-suite facilities. Guests of the project are supported to find secure accommodation to move on to by the rough sleeper outreach team. Last year the project ran from December through to the beginning of April and accommodated 17 people, 11 of which moved on to secure accommodation.

Help us support the night shelter and Winter Beds Project by sleeping out for us. We can't do it without you.
