Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are raising money for Wipe Away Those Tears (An Essex Children's Charity) in memory of Olivia Mary Keeble who sadly passed away unexpectedly, aged 3.
Wipe Away Those Tears had pledged to fund an alternative therapy for Olivia that isn't available via the NHS for a year, and had already funded part of that pledge when Olivia unexpectedly passed away, for reasons that are believed to be due to her Neurodisabilty (caused by her premature birth) but this isn't definitive.
We therefore felt it would be a fitting tribute to help raise funds for this charity by participating in events in tribute to Olivia.
Nuclear Races challenge all levels of fitness ability & ages, testing courage, determination, teamwork & physical strength. Based on farmland with mud, woods, rivers, lakes & fields Nuclear pushes participant’s limits over a fun combination of big & small obstacles packed on award winning courses which are mixed up at every event.
Olivia’s life was nothing short of eventful, beginning as many of you will know, with her premature arrival when she was born 14 weeks early and weighing just 850g.
This to us was a little bit like being given a jigsaw puzzle to complete without a picture. Thankfully due to the amazing help of the staff at Addenbrookes over 7 weeks, followed by a further 9 weeks at Broomfield, they were able to help us to separate the edge pieces from the rest. When the time came for Olivia to come home we found ourselves beginning to piece them together and with the help of various medical professionals over the course of 2 years we finally felt we had completed the edges. This meant we now felt that things were starting to begin to make some sense and over the course of the next year or so we were starting to fill in the middle of our puzzle. The commencing of ABR therapy to help improve Olivia’s physicality, and the starting an educational setting at Southview School in Witham, meant that the future for Olivia’s progress was beginning to look positive. The evening before her passing, we had our first parents evening at Olivia’s school. They were full of positive feedback and we couldn’t have been prouder parents.
A little over 24 hours later and it would be the furthest we would ever fall.
It was as if someone had got hold of our jigsaw puzzle and smashed it all to pieces across the floor. Physically, mentally and emotionally devastated.
We now find ourselves trying to rebuild this puzzle despite the fact that deep down we know that it is no longer the same picture, and that there are pieces missing, ones that will leave a huge hole that will never be filled.
We are hugely grateful for all the love and support that has been given to us over the last few weeks.
Olivia leaves behind a huge hole in all our lives, however she will never be forgotten as despite only being small, she has made a big impact in all our lives. May she live on in our hearts and her memory brighten our darkest days the way her smile would shine across the room.
