Story
On October 4th, I will be running the Manchester Half Marathon for Cancer Research UK.
I am running in memory of my Dad, Laurence, who passed away 10 years ago this coming December from bowel cancer.
My Dad was 59 when he died, after living courageously with cancer for several years. He was a fitness instructor, teaching his classes throughout his illness. He was also an amazing runner- my sister and I spent many weekends as children watching him race. A half marathon is no easy feat, but I find comfort in doing something I know he loved so much.
My sister and I were 21 and 22 when our Dad died- Jess was in her final year at university in Manchester, and I had not long graduated from the same uni. Many of our last memories together with our Dad are in Manchester from when he would visit us, so it feels very special to be doing this in a city that holds so many memories. I will also be running alongside my partner Laura; although my Dad never got to meet her, I know he would have loved her very much. 🥰
Any donations are hugely appreciated, thank you❤️
