Story
I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Daisy's Dream, in memory of my beautiful niece Cara and my Uncle Tweenie (who would've added here how beautiful he thought he was too).
Cara 2012-2014
Cara was the most beautiful little girl inside and out. I was only 11 years old when I found out I was going to be an auntie, but I promised myself I would always be someone she could look up to and be proud of. I was so excited to be an auntie and every moment I spent with Cara brought me so much joy. I feel lucky to have so many happy memories with her - from playing in my room and dressing up in my necklaces to taking her for her first ice cream. It breaks my heart that her time on earth was cut so short. I carry her gentle, kind spirit with me everyday and I continue to strive to be someone she can be proud of.
Paul McQueen 1966-2010 (aka Uncle Tweenie or Queenie)
Uncle Tweenie was one of my favourite people in the world. He made me laugh and would play whatever games I came up with. When I remember him, I always see him smiling. Although I regularly told him he was old, he was taken long before his time. He was (and still is) a very loved son, brother and uncle.
Anyone who has experienced bereavement knows how difficult it is and losing a child is unthinkable. In 2016 I had support from Daisy's Dream and the help they gave me was so valuable in helping me cope. I am fundraising to ensure that as many children as possible can access the support they need when they've lost a loved one.
Each year Daisy's Dream support around 500 children and young people through their bereavement. Whether they are facing the death of someone they love or have already experienced their loss, our professionally qualified Therapeutic Practitioners are on hand to offer families the support and guidance they need. All of our work is provided to families completely free of charge, but in order to do so, Daisy's Dream need to raise over £500,000 a year to cover our costs. Please give what you can.
