Story
I will be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon on the 26th of May, in memory of my mum who passed away in 2022. As someone who has only been able to run a 10k, this is a big challenge, but I’m looking forward to pushing myself and making my family proud.
I will be running for Sepsis Research FEAT, a charity close to my family’s heart. Sepsis Research FEAT is a charity which has funded vital research, improved treatments and raised awareness of Sepsis since 2013. If you would like to learn more about the charity, I have added a link to their page here - https://sepsisresearch.org.uk/about-us/#our-history
My mum suffered from acute transverse myelitis for years, and was in and out of hospital. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Sepsis, and passed away in October 2022. Sepsis is such a horrific illness and I am delighted to be able to raise money for a charity that is able to make a difference to the lives of those affected by Sepsis.
Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated! Time to get the running shoes on and up the training🏃🏼♀️
Sepsis Research FEAT is a registered charity (SC049399) and we are the UK’s only sepsis research charity.
Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined.
We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:
- to raise awareness of sepsis
- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
