This year I’ll be running in the Cardiff half marathon in memory of my big brother Shaun, while running I’ll be raising money for a charity close to my heart diabetes uk. This charity is especially important to me as at the young age of 11 my big brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I want to raise awareness as I watched my brother struggle for a very long time coming to terms with his diagnosis. I want to do this to make him proud and keep his memory alive.

Diabetes is a global health issue, with millions of people living with the condition worldwide. In the UK, 5.6 million people live with diabetes.
