Story
In late May, just before his first birthday, our son was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma develops from a very early type of nerve cell, which is left over from development in the womb. These cells are called neuroblasts. More info can be found here.
The treatment for neuroblastoma is usually arduous and long (up to 18 months). Our son is currently in the first phase which consists of 8 cycles of chemotherapy, where every 10 days he spends 2-3 days in hospital on a drip.
To mark the end of this phase, I've decided to shave off my hair so that we can grow it back together.
To make this even more meaningful, I'd like to raise funds for Solving Kids Cancer (SKC). SKC is a charity dedicated to supporting neuroblastoma patients and their family. So far, they have provided great support, such as:
- a lovely support bag with loads of goodies for our son
- access to family support to help us in understanding our son’s diagnosis
- fund some very important clinical trials to improve the outcomes for future children with this disease.
The funds raised here will be used to help families impacted in the future in the same way that we've been supported so far.
