Story
Back in February 2014 my dad passed away suddenly from a Type A Aortic Dissection whilst out on his bike. He was very fit and healthy, going to the gym and exercising 4/5 times a week. We could never have imagined that we would lose him this way.
Only 50% of people survive a Type A Aortic Dissection with over 2000 people per year losing their lives in the UK. The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust is the UK and Ireland charity uniting patients, families and the medical community in a shared goal of improving diagnosis, increasing survival and reducing disability due to aortic dissection. Early detection, genetic testing and Emergency Service/ Department knowledge can be the difference between life and death.
My sister, Lauren, has already raised over £11,000 for ADCT but now it is my turn to fundraise and help prevent others from losing their lives early.
I am going to be running 12 half marathons in 12 months starting 27/04/25 with the Shakespeare Half Marathon in Stratford Upon-Avon.
I will then go on to run in the Manchester half on 18th May, the Black Country half on 5th July, The Big Half in London on 7th September, the Robin Hood half in Nottingham on 28th September, the Royal Parks Half in London on 12th October, Silverstone Half on 23rd November, Port Loop Coastal in AUSTRALIA on 21st December, Lisbon Half on 8th March and London Landmarks Half on 12th April with 2 more to be planned soon.
Any donation, no matter how small, would really be appreciated and if anyone fancies joining me along the way then please feel free!
Thank you, Ollie😊
