Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in my first running event by participating in the Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 8th March 2026 to raise funds and awareness for the Hunts Blind & Vision Impaired Society. I am 17 years old and am currently an apprentice in the Gardens Team at Trinity College, so will be running on my 'home turf'.

I am pleased to say that I completed the Half Marathon on Sunday 8th March 2026 in a time of 01:42:08 after aiming to complete it in just under 2:00:00. I am keeping my donation page open after this event as well so please feel free to continue donating as every little bit of money for this wonderful local charity will make a huge difference!

As we live in Huntingdonshire, my Mum has been supported by Hunts Blind in recent years when she required eye surgery due to a macular hole in one eye and vitreomacular traction and oedema in the other. Mum has permanent central sight loss in one eye. Due to having had eye surgery, as a family we know my Mum will need further eye surgery in the future, as she will develop surgical cataracts. It is great to know the charity will be there to support Mum again. I wanted to raise awareness about this wonderful local charity and help with their fundraising.

Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind has provided support to the community since 1922 offering a lifetime of support for people who are blind or partially sighted. There is no membership charge and you do not need to be registered as sight impaired to join the Society. They offer free information, advice, and support, to blind and visually impaired adults and children in Huntingdonshire. The Society provides a wide range of services to visually impaired people, their carers and family members in order to meet a variety of needs. They understand that every vision impairment is different, so they are passionate about delivering the services you need. https://huntsblind.co.uk

I would be really grateful for any contribution you can make no matter how small to help support this local charity which is doing amazing work in my community.
