Grand Départ Classic 2025
Campaign by PROSTATE CANCER UK (RCN 1005541 and in Scotland (SC039332))
Prostate Cancer UK's legendary team of cyclists taking on the first road stage of the Tour de France, in Lille.

Story

Hi, I'm cycling the Grand Départ Classic to help beat prostate cancer.

This cause is deeply personal to me—both my dad and father-in-law have successfully overcome prostate cancer. Their recoveries were made possible by ongoing research and advancements in treatment, funded by charitable efforts like this.

Prostate cancer affects one in eight men in the UK, making it the most common cancer among men. By participating in the Grand Départ Classic, I'm aiming to raise funds to support Prostate Cancer UK's vital research and services.

The Grand Départ Classic isn’t just a casual Sunday ride — it’s 185km of sweat, swearing, and sore legs as I tackle the same route as Stage 1 of the 2025 Tour de France. From the cobbled climbs of Mont Cassel to the sneaky kick of Mont Noir, this ride is all about grit (and gritted teeth).

I’ve spent countless hours in the saddle, screaming through interval sessions, questioning my life choices, and trying to convince my legs that this is “fun.” All of it’s worth it though — every mile is for a cause close to my heart, and every donation brings us closer to better diagnostics, treatments, and ultimately, a cure.

Your support means the world to me and to countless families affected by this disease, so please give generously!

Thank you for standing with me in this fight.
