Story
Hi All,
In Summer 2015, my mum (Tracy) suffered a stroke which has meant aspects of her life have drastically changed and will likely never be the same. She became partially sighted and suffered with severe fatigue. Mum is one of the most hardworking people I know, she would work all the hours under the sun to provide for our family and after falling victim to a stroke she hasn’t since been able to work in the same way she once did. After persistent support from the Stroke Association, Mum developed into being as comfortable as she could with the new changes to her life and since has adapted as well as one could. Stroke broke our family but developed us to become stronger and closer in many ways.
After a turbulent few years, life settled and our family became more tight knitted than ever. Mum had a surgery to mend her broken heart and we enjoyed a lovely break away once she felt better!
Unfortunately, a few days after we returned, my nan (Jackie) suffered a lacunar stroke whilst attending St Bartholomew’s hospital with my mum for post-surgery follow up appointment. This meant that an artery to the deep part of her brain was blocked and has left her with difficulties communicating and walking. My Nan has always been my rock, keeping our family strong through difficult times and supporting our family in unimaginable ways to the best ability she could.
This brings me on to why I will be completing a 50km+ walk from The Stroke Association in Bury St Edmunds to Elmstead Cricket Club. I would like to raise as much money as I can for the Stroke Association so stroke survivors can be supported to rebuild their lives and critical research can be funded to prevent Strokes from occurring.
I have completed two previous fundraisers and this one is going to be the best one yet!!
