Story
My name is Oliver, and in 2010 my dad had a stroke. Following this my Dad was left with Aphasia, a cruel disability which hinders his ability to verbally communicate on a daily basis.
In 2014 a friend’s dad had an accident leaving him with A.B.I (Acquired Brain Injury), a result of which his ability to communicate has also been hindered.
The voice is such a powerful tool of communication, one we often take for granted. So, what happens if it is suddenly taken away from you? I’m going to find out.
This September I will take a vow of silence to raise money for charities, some of which have really helped people like my dad and that of my friend’s dad as a way of saying thank you and to ensure their incredible work can continue.
I would like to dedicate this to our fathers who have truly been inspirations to all. Please give what you can to these incredible charities by donating to my JustGiving pages.
However; As a colleague in the retail industry, My workplace has Requested me to speak whilst at work. To comply with their demands I will have to speak, but only when necessary during my work shifts to managers regarding work based topics and customers/clients of the establishment in question. The only other exception will be during emergencies only.
THANK YOU
