The MS-UK Tower Walk

Climb the Gherkin! · 8 October 2023
On October 8th I am taking on the MS-UK Tower walk which involves walking up the 1,037 steps (38 floors) of the iconic Gherkin Tower in London.
The record for this is an incredible time of 4 minutes and 10 seconds. My climb will no doubt be slightly more leisurely, but quite the challenge nonetheless!!
The target that I have committed to raise in order to enter the challenge is £250, but I would like to get to £500 if I can. This is the first time I have committed to raising money for a cause that affects me personally.
Having only been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in January this year, it is all very new to me and I am very much still learning of the challenges and changes to my life that are ahead.
On a 'use it or lose it' principle (vigorously endorsed by my Neurologist) I have been going to Bootcamp sessions 4 times a week, and swimming 2 or 3 times a week around that and feeling endless benefits around fitness and just as importantly mental health. Given this U-turn in lifestyle, this felt like an appropriate challenge for me!
MS-UK is an independent charity that receives no government funding, or funding from Big Pharma, which means that there is no danger of their main aims being jeopardised or unduly influenced. The charity is also Community led, meaning that all of their work is informed by members of the Community that are personally affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
Thank you so much for supporting!
