Story
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 23 April I will be running the London Marathon and I am raising money for DDX3X Support UK.
DDX3X syndrome occurs when there is a genetic mutation/variation of the DDX3X gene. It happens when one of the two copies of the DDX3X gene has lost its normal function due to a ‘spelling mistake’ in the gene. The DDX3X gene is located on the X chromosome.
The syndrome predominantly occurs in females with developmental delay and/or intellectual disability and the first girls and women with this disorder were only reported as recently as 2015. There are fewer boys with the syndrome.
DDX3X Support UK was set up as UK-based information and support group for patients and families affected by the DDX3X gene mutation. If you would like to find out more about DDX3X Support UK and the great work they do, please visit: https://ddx3xsupportuk.co.uk/
Thank you so much for your support!
