London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

From a short sprint to an ultra marathon, whatever your distance, whatever your challenge, make every step to help us do more for sick kids at Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity.

Story

My name is John Dabbs and on the 27th April 2025, I will be running the London Marathon. However I will not be alone, my daughter Emmie will be joining me. Due to learning and mobility issues she will be in a specialised buggy.

We have ran over 2,500 miles together since she was born, including a half marathon and various other runs, we have even shared the road alongside Ashley Cain in Support of his Ultraman Challenge, where he raised over £200,000 for the Azaylia Foundation in memory of his daughter Azaylia who he lost to Cancer.

This Marathon will be special to me as I am doing it to support Birmingham Children's hospital.

My first born son Marcus was diagnosed with rare form of cancer, Rhabdoid and was treated at the hospital. I lost my son after nine months, the grief is still as strong but so are the memories of the staff at the hospital.

They work tirelessly for all the children who require hospitalisation and they care for the parents too.

This is a small way to repay them.

Please donate what you can, the target I have set is high but the cancer he had was very

rare and highly aggressive.

Currently, only 3% of funding goes towards childhood cancer because its considered "rare".

There are five new cases diagnosed every day and 4 deaths a week, that does not feel rare.

Our children are worth more than 3% - Cancer is the number one killer in children in the Uk.

Thank you for taking the time to read, please donate if you can, and share the link with everyone you know.
