The Unofficial Onich Swim Club takes on Loch Morlich for Glencoe Mountain Rescue

Nick Cochrane is raising money for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team

Go Swim 2026 - Loch Morlich · 12 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Glencoe Mountain Rescue has been providing a free rescue service in the Glencoe area since 1961. Run entirely by volunteers and hugely reliant on donations for funding, the rescue service extends to mountains, rivers, lochs, caves and the sea across North Argyll and on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

Story

Next Saturday (12th September), the Unofficial Onich Swim Club – Nick, Ben and Jon – will be swapping Loch Linnhe for Loch Morlich as we take on the Go Swim Loch Morlich 5km and 10km open-water races.

We’re three keen outdoor enthusiasts who spend a lot of our time swimming, running, cycling, skiing and generally enjoying the incredible mountains and lochs we’re lucky enough to have on our doorstep.

That’s why we wanted to use this challenge to raise money for Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. As people who regularly enjoy these same wild places, we have huge respect for the work they do and the reassurance of knowing they’re there when things go wrong.

If you can spare a few pounds, we’d be hugely grateful. Every donation will help Glencoe Mountain Rescue continue doing what they do best – and give the three of us a little extra motivation when we’re somewhere in the middle of Loch Morlich wondering why on earth we thought this was a good idea!

Thank you for your support!
