Men in Sheds Bedford’s aim is to keep men, or ladies, active and healthy by getting them out of the house, talking to and meeting people, making friends, and doing stuff together. All leading to a positive mental state. Numerous studies link mental well being with physical well being. Not to mention the physical benefits of just moving about and getting out of the house a few time a week, and being engaged in creating things, and helping people. Many members have a host of skills and find sharing those skills to be a quite positive experience; and of course, learning new skills, or refining old ones, keeps the mind active. Although primarily organised around practical skills, the shed is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or even the ability to hammer in a nail. But possibly the biggest reason for joining Men In Sheds Bedford is for the fun, through discussion, banter, life stories, and all just getting together in a lighthearted environment of like minded people in the camaraderie of the workplace

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our memorial JustGiving page for Charlie Edwards.

Dad wasn't from Bedford as most of you know he spent most of his life in Canvey, but following a spell of ill health a few years back, he accepted our offer of help and moved in permanently with us to make Bedford his home.

This group became Dad's, his group of friends, his thing, his social life, part of his life in Bedford. Following my move here some 15 yrs ago, Dad became familiar with Bedford, he was up practically every month, he'd find a local pub to have a drink and might see a regular face or two, and he knew how to get around. But to build a connection, and have "his thing" really made him feel Bedford was his home.

The shed gave him a hobby, friends, banter and a purpose and a place to feel welcomed and valued.

Therefore we cannot thank 'The Men in Sheds' enough for the good times you allowed Dad to have. 'Shoulder To Shoulder'
