Operation Neptune 2 – Rowing for a Reason

In June 2026, we will take on an extreme endurance challenge: rowing over 100 nautical miles from Southampton to Normandy in an R45 ocean rowing boat. This is not just a physical test — it’s a world record attempt and a mission driven by purpose.

Our four-man team comes from military and emergency service backgrounds, bringing resilience, discipline and teamwork to one of the busiest and most demanding stretches of water in the world. We will row in continuous shifts, battling fatigue, tides, shipping traffic and unpredictable conditions to safely reach the shores of Normandy.

But this challenge is about more than just the row.

We are aiming to raise £10,000 for Hallie’s Hideaway, a charity that provides respite breaks for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. The work they do gives families precious time, support and memories when they need it most. Every mile we row is driven by that purpose.

To complete this challenge safely, we must cover significant costs including boat hire, safety equipment, specialist training and logistics. While we are working with sponsors, every donation makes a real difference — both in helping us reach the start line and in supporting Hallie’s Hideaway.

This will test us physically and mentally like never before. There will be long nights, tough miles and moments where resilience is everything. But we are fully committed to pushing through and making it count.

Hideaway is a UK registered charity which provides families, with children facing childhood cancer and other life threatening illnesses, with a beautiful holiday home to enjoy precious time away from home and hospital. Hallie’s Hideaway understands how important memories are their number one aim is to help families to make their own memories to last a lifetime. 

A short break away from the stresses and pressures of childhood cancer, and other illnesses, gives families time to relax, recharge and reconnect.
