This year the Options team will run the Belfast Marathon for Cavernoma Alliance UK, a charity nominated by a Belfast staff member. Cavernoma Alliance UK is an organisation that provides support and information to those affected by Carveronma.

To detail some of the charity’s great work the team member explains -

‘This charity has helped me a lot with coping with the diagnosis in both a mental and physical sense. Suffering from brain haemorrhages’ / bleeds in brain and the side effects can be difficult to process at times. Coping mechanisms provided for both myself and close family were invaluable, especially throughout the initial stages when there was uncertainty on short and long term effects. Post Radiosurgery I was able to access further professional opinions and potential face to face meetings at events, lectures and the opportunity to meet others who have experienced cavernoma. This is an under researched condition due to rarity of the symptoms on individuals that continues to need enhanced donations/research’.
