Hi! I'm turning 30 later this month and wanted to celebrate by doing something scary for a great cause, so naturally I am going to do a bungee jump!
I lost 2 very close family members earlier this year and this sparked me to want to give more back to the community I am a part of - as fate would have it my partner spotted 2BU's logo on something at her workplace and told me to look them up...
...So, I've been a youth work volunteer with 2BU now for 6 months and without a doubt becoming part of their team has been the highlight of my year. The young people the charity helps inspire me no end, and it has been wonderful to be a part of a resource that I myself as a queer neurodiverse man wish I had had growing up. The climate around LGBTQ+ people feels very heavy at the moment, and 2BU provides the most wonderful support for LGBTQ+ young people in one of the most rural parts of the UK, where people can feel very disconnected from their community.
I would love to raise at least £300 for my 30th Birthday for 2BU so that we can keep on supporting queer youth in Somerset, helping them find themselves and providing a safe space.
If you can spare the price of a pint (or more) then please consider chipping in so that this awesome local charity can continue to do what they do, and so that I'm not chucking myself off a platform in Bristol for no reason!
