Story
In honour of our beautiful boy, Siobhann and I are taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge alongside our incredible family members — Brett, Lee, Jakub and Vikki - climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, without a professional guide whilst driving between ourselves to each mountain, all within 24hrs.
In early December, our lives changed forever. Siobhann and I lost our baby boy, Ottley — and with him, the future we had imagined, the memories we were waiting to make, and a part of ourselves we will never get back.
The silence he left behind is deafening. The world keeps turning, but ours felt like it stopped. Losing our boy has broken us in ways we didn’t know were possible. There are no words that truly capture the weight of that pain — the emptiness in our arms, the ache in our hearts, the love we still carry for him every single day.
In those darkest moments, when everything felt unbearable, we found ourselves searching for anything that might help us understand how to survive this. We didn’t reach out directly to Child Bereavement UK, but their website, articles and the stories of other parents who had walked this path became a quiet lifeline. Reading the words of families who truly understood this kind of loss made us feel a little less alone. Their work brings light into unimaginable darkness.
This challenge will test us physically and mentally, but it feels small compared to the mountain we have already had to climb. We are doing this for our son, our baby boy, we are doing this for grieving parents. And we are doing this so that Child Bereavement UK can continue providing the vital support that helps families navigate life after loss.
If you can donate, share, or support us in any way, it would mean more than we can ever say. Thank you for helping us carry his memory forward and turn our heartbreak into hope for someone else.
Always our little boy. Love you all the world 💚💙
