On the 17th July 2026 OurCoop will be walking 20 miles, completing the Chiltern's Challenge. We are fundraising for the incredible Plunkett UK and supporting the work they do to keep vital community assets accessible for all.

'Since 1919, Plunkett has been supporting rural communities to set-up and run community-owned businesses such as village shops and pubs, farms, fisheries and woodlands. Today we are proud to support over 850 community businesses across the UK.

Rural communities are increasingly facing the loss of much-loved services. It’s estimated that 300 village shops and 370 pubs shut in rural areas, each year, leaving local people without access to vital supplies, services and social connection – putting the most vulnerable at risk of loneliness and isolation.

However, Plunkett leads a movement of community owned businesses which is reversing this trend.

Thriving where others fail, and with a 94% success rate at 20 years, community businesses offer more than basic services – acting as multi-service hubs that proactively reach out and support those that need them the most'
