Story
Some people leave footprints on our hearts that never fade. Our brother/uncle and mother/grandma were two of those people. They filled our lives with love, laughter, and kindness, and losing them has left a space that can never truly be filled.
Both our brother/uncle and our mother/grandma sadly passed away at the age of 39 due to Long QT Syndrome, a condition that affects the heart and can take loved ones far too soon. Losing two special people in the same way has been heartbreaking, but it has also given us a reason to turn our grief into something meaningful.
Long QT Syndrome is also something very personal to us. Both myself and my mum, who are taking on this challenge together, live with Long QT Syndrome. While it can be a worrying condition, we manage it by living a healthy and balanced life, staying mindful of our wellbeing, and supporting each other every step of the way.
In memory of our loved ones, we are taking on a daily challenge of 39,000 steps per day for 7 days — a number chosen to represent the age of 39 and to honour their lives. Every single step is taken with them in our hearts. Some days will be tough, but this challenge is our way of remembering their strength and the love they gave us.
We’re doing this in memory of them, to raise money for a good cause, and to spread awareness of Long QT Syndrome. Greater awareness can help protect other families from the same loss, and that alone makes every step worth it.
By supporting our journey, you’re helping keep their memory alive, supporting an important cause, and shining a light on a condition more people need to understand.
Every donation, share, and word of encouragement means the world to us. Thank you for walking this journey with us — one step at a time.
