Berlin Marathon 2025 · 21 September 2025 ·

We support the thousands of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s, from across the UK and beyond, by funding the life-changing and the joy-sparking. We make clinical care kinder, and bad days brighter. We bring play, laughter and comfort to places where they’re needed the most.

Story

On 21st September 2025, I’ll be running the iconic Berlin Marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 km), a lifetime milestone and a huge personal challenge.

I’m combining this achievement with the opportunity to raise funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, an organisation that supports Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, which is one of only three dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people across the country, including community and mental health care, as well as acute and specialist services.

💙 Why this charity matters to me:

They fund vital research and treatment

Sheffield Children’s supports pioneering research—from rib-fracture CT scans to telescopic rod failure analysis—to improve outcomes for thousands of young patients

They create comforting environments

Beyond clinical care, they transform hospital spaces through initiatives like Art+, vibrant play areas, sensory rooms, and parent lounges—making “bad days brighter” and reducing anxiety during treatment

They provide specialist equipment and new facilities

Donations help furnish the hospital with critical tools—such as hydrotherapy pools, CT/MRI scanners, and advanced ventilators—that go beyond NHS provision and truly enhance patient care

Your support makes a real difference:

£20 could provide a session of art therapy or play resources during treatment—helping a child cope with the hospital environment.

£50 could fund vital research time, such as staff hours working on life-saving innovations like rib CT scans or new-born screening programmes.

£100+ could help purchase specialist equipment—like parts of a new sensory room, hydrotherapy pool sessions, or contribute directly toward scanners and ventilators.

Running 26.2 miles takes training, grit—and consistent motivation. Your support keeps me going through every long run and hill climb!
