Story
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for the Matt Hampson Foundation — a charity that has meant a huge amount to me and my family for many years.
My goal is to raise £1,000 to support young people who have suffered catastrophic, life-changing injuries through sport — injuries that arrive without warning and change everything in an instant.
We’ve proudly supported the Matt Hampson Foundation since 2017, not just because of what it does, but because of how it does it. The Foundation doesn’t simply help people recover physically, it restores confidence, purpose, and belief at a time when those things can feel impossible to find.
At the heart of everything the Foundation stands for is a simple but powerful message: Get Busy Living.
Taken from The Shawshank Redemption, it’s a philosophy that Matt Hampson has made his own — a reminder that even when life changes forever, you still have a choice about how you move forward. Not by ignoring what’s happened, but by refusing to let it be the end of the story.
In recent years, that message has become deeply personal for me.
In 2020, my dad survived severe acute pancreatitis, sepsis, and multiple organ failure — a battle that pushed him to the very edge and left a long, difficult road to recovery ahead. Watching him rebuild his strength, identity, and confidence showed me exactly what Get Busy Living really means in real life.
Throughout that journey, the values embodied by the Matt Hampson Foundation — resilience, determination, positivity, and refusing to give up — were a constant source of inspiration for our family. Hambo, his incredible team, and the amazing beneficiaries of the Foundation played a huge part in shaping my dad’s mindset and determination during his recovery.
The Get Busy Living Centre is where that philosophy comes to life. It’s a place where people rediscover belief, rebuild ambition, and see what’s still possible — even after everything they once knew has been turned upside down.
That’s why I’m running.
I’m running for those whose sporting lives have been cut short, for families navigating the unknown, and for a Foundation that turns devastation into hope and possibility.
If you’re able to donate — whether it’s a little or a lot — you’ll be helping someone choose to Get Busy Living. To move forward with purpose, rebuild belief, and take the next step when life has forced them onto a different path.
Together, we can turn adversity into strength, setbacks into purpose, and prove that even after life’s toughest moments, there is always a way forward.
Thank you so much for your support. It genuinely means more than I can say.
