Story

Hello, thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am taking on the challenge of running the London marathon in 2026 to raise money for Samaritans, any help to reach my goal of £1,500 is incredibly appreciated.

I volunteer with Oxford Samaritans, and in 2024 I ran the TCS Virtual Marathon and raised £453 for the Samaritans. This year I'm lucky enough to have a chance to run the real thing on behalf of the Oxford branch! If you can spare a few pounds for a good cause then please do!

Samaritans provides a 24/7 confidential listening service. A safe, non-judgmental space for anyone struggling to cope, including those with suicidal thoughts.

To give you an idea of how your donations might be spent: Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. £25 helps the cost to reain and train existing volunteers. £133 covers the training of a new volunteer. £680 keeps the phone lines open for an hour across the UK. If we raise £1,518 we can onboard a new volunteer, provide ongoing training and keep the lines open for 2 hours.

The need for services like Samaritans has never been greater, with increasing demand on essential services leading to long waiting lists to access help.

Thanks for your support!
