Raising Money for the First Touch Baby Unit at St. George’s Hospital - Max, Paul, Jordan, and Tristan's Charity Walk from Oxford to Leicester

Tristan Webster is raising money for First Touch

Walk from Oxford to Leicester

First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Today’s the day! We’ll be leaving the Kassam Stadium at about 10am with a 13 mile walk to our first hotel. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far. We are truly blown away and every donation has been so appreciated. Check back here for updates on rain, blisters and hopefully some nice views!

UPDATE 16/01/26

Truly can’t believe that we’re here giving another update and changing the target again in such a short space of time. Every single penny that you’ve all given is so incredibly generous. We’ve got a few days left to go and then the hard work starts. Check back here between Tuesday and Saturday for photos of blisters, beautiful (fingers crossed) scenery and hopefully a dry team. Thank you everyone!

UPDATE 21/10/2025

On Friday we reached our initial target of £1000. We’ve therefore set ourselves a new target of £1500. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far!

——————————————————————————————

We’re Max, Paul, Jordan, and Tristan and we’re taking on a massive challenge to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts. In January, we’ll be walking from Oxford’s Kassam Stadium (Max and Paul’s team) to Leicester’s King Power Stadium (Tristan’s team), taking on a journey of over 70 miles with the aim of arriving in time for the Oxford vs Leicester Championship match on January 24th 2026.

This walk is about making a difference for the families supported by First Touch at St. George's Hospital in Tooting. First Touch was there for Max and Amy when their daughter Dora was born 6 weeks earlier than expected. Not only this, but Dora was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and required immediate emergency surgery. The First Touch team offered invaluable support during the first 8 weeks of baby Dora’s life. During this time, she had to undergo 2 major operations (with the first at just 8 hours old), as well as hundreds of tests. The care and support shown by the team at St. George’s during those tough weeks was incredible. Crucially, Max and Amy were able to stay overnight in the hospital which allowed them to be close to Dora when it mattered most. Without the team’s immediate help, their experience would have been drastically different.

Two years on and Dora is absolutely thriving and has grown into the perfect two year old, all thanks to the help from First Touch.

Every penny we raise during this walk will go directly to First Touch, helping them continue to provide life-saving medical equipment. They are currently aiming to raise £80,000 for two new Maquet ventilators. The money we raise will also go towards accommodation for families separated from their babies, and clothing for sick and premature infants. These donations will make an enormous difference to families going through incredibly difficult times.

We’ve seen firsthand just how much of an impact First Touch has, and we’re asking for your support to help them continue this vital work. Whether you can give a little or a lot, it all counts, and we can’t thank you enough for your generosity.

Please donate what you can and help us make a real difference. Together, we can ensure that more families get the support they need when they need it most. Thank you!
