Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Trek Transylvania (Romania) for Marie Curie – 3rd to 9th September 2024

Some of our amazing team are fundraising to take part in Trek Transylvanian. This amazing seven day adventure will involve walking up to 10 miles per day. During the trip they will explore the dramatic landscapes and unspoilt natural valleys of the Carpathian mountains. They will experience the history, myth, intrigue and the magic of the wonderful Bran Castle, absorb themselves in the scenery of remote medieval village, watch bears feeding in the local bear sanctuary and go truffle hunting with dogs. Each participant pays an initial registration fee of £395 and then pledges to fundraise or obtain sponsorship of £2600. Some of our participants are paying all of the trip costs themselves and pledging to raise as much as they can on top! What STARS they are! Supporting those with a terminal illness is important as sadly we will all know someone who will experience a critical illness on our journey through life. For more information please contact Nicky Clargo on 07754 271831 email: oxfordshire.stars@gmail.com

Participants signed up so far: Nicky Clargo, Chris Rawlings, Bernie Harris, Jill May, Sharron Chadwick, Jane Simpkins, Keith Sykes and Steve Dance. If you are supporting a STARS Trekker kindly include their name in your donation so we know who you are supporting. Thank you! ;o)

Suffolk Trek - on Friday, 22nd September Nicky Clargo, Chris Rawlings, Christopher Morton, Tanya Morton, Kim Weston, Denise Fitzgerald, Geoffrey Cooper and Martin (AKA Ted) Turner, Rachel Adams and Bob Vetter will be heading off to Suffolk on a trek in aid of Marie Curie. Please do sponsor them if you can and do leave a kind work of encouragement. Thank you! ;o)

On 5th June 2023, during the Yorkshire, Scotland and Derbyshire Trek, Geoffrey made an innocent bet with Martin Turner (Ted), that if he lost 3 Stone in weight in 3 months he would donate £100 to Marie Curie as part if Ted's fundraising. Others in the group quickly followed and pledges of £900 were made from this very generous group. Ted starting weight was 17 Stone 12.7lbs and his final weight was 205.2 lbs which is 14 Stone 9lbs + a few ounces!!! He lost 3 Stone 3lbs!

Thank you all so much for supporting Ted. He is absolutely over the moon 🌙 and had a pint of cider to celebrate! 🥳👏 Bravo Ted 👏

Yorkshire, Scotland and Derbyshire Trek In aid of Marie Curie

Saturday, 3rd to Sunday, 11th June 2023

Participants include: Nicky Clargo, Sean Hazzell, Martin Turner, Denise Fitzgerald, Geoffrey Cooper, Mickey Fry, Mo Gray, Steve Dance, Clare Sharp, Jacqueline Guerin and Rachel Adams

This trek will include nine days of walking and sightseeing in Yorkshire, Scotland and Derbyshire. Particpants will get to see some stunning scenery as well as a visit to the beautiful city of Edinburgh. The trip includes eight night’s bed and breakfast and mini bus travel which has been self funded so every penny raised on here goes straight to Marie Curie. The walks will be 6-8 miles per day and a good level of fitness is required. Supporting those with a terminal illness is important as sadly we will all know someone who will experience a critical illness on our journey through life. If you are sponsoring a team member please leave a note of their name and a word of encouragement for what lies ahead! THANK YOU! ;o)

Other Oxfordshire Stars charity events include our monthly Quiz Nights, Bingo's, Comedy Vocalist Jeff Denton and DJ Joff, a Murder Mystery and Dinner Dance as well as our UK and overseas Charity Treks.

I also organise lots of walks throughout the year which individuals are welcome to participant in. Please sign up on meetup above for more information.

Much love. Nicky and the Oxfordshire STARS Team
