Story
Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system. Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.

What we're about… Our aim is to contribute to health and well-being by providing walks, social nights, trek weekends and raising funds for Marie Curie. Our group is made up of a friendly bunch of individuals. Some who enjoy the great outdoors, some who enjoy socialising and others who like to support our charity work. WALKING - For those people who are not currently walking but who are considering improving their health and well-being walking is an ideal way to start. Our walks are generally between 4 to 12 miles long with the majority of walks being in the 5-8 mile range. Our short and longer walks usually take place during the summer months. We run Charity Trek weekends twice a year. Please check our calendar for more information or contact Nicky. Please ensure you have a reasonable level of fitness before embarking on a walk. Please also remember to bring your waterproofs, good walking boots or trek sandals, sun hats*, sun cream*, insect repellent*, water, snacks and cameras (*depending on the time of year). To help cover the cost of our website we ask our walkers to contribute £2 per walk. Any surplus funds are used to support our charity fundraising expenses (e.g. photocopying, postage, stationery, laminates, raffle tickets, bingo books, raffle prizes etc.).
SOCIAL AND CHARITY EVENTS - Our Social and Charity Events provide a chance for people to make new friends while raising money for a worthy cause. Any donations of raffle prizes are always very welcome. We currently organise social nights, quiz nights, bands, dinner parties, and a New Years Eve event. We also have other social activities such as theatre nights, cinema nights, days out etc.. We’re always open to suggestions of events to try for the group.
