Paddleboarding Across the English Channel

#PearlPower is a Special Named Fund at CCLG raising funds to support research into all childhood cancers with poor outcomes.

Story

In August 2025, Jamie and his brother John are setting off from Dover to paddleboard across the English Channel in memory of Jamie's daughter Pearl. They are doing this to raise awareness and vital funds for research into childhood cancer with the charity, Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, (CCLG).

Until Pearl was diagnosed in 2016, a month before her 10th birthday, we thought that childhood cancer was impossibly rare and curable when found. Sadly this is not the case...

Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 14 and funding for research into more effective and kinder treatments is devastatingly low.

To date the #PearlPower fund has raised well over £100,000 and funded not one but two ground-breaking research projects via the CCLG.

With this latest fundraising challenge, we can further improve the survival rates for children facing this terrible diagnosis.

Please sponsor us to help save future children and their families from the tragedy of Childhood Cancer. Every penny pledged will give Jamie and John a little more strength in their arms that they are really going to need!
