Story
In October 2025, my mum and I will be taking on the incredible Charity Challenge Himalayan Trek to raise vital funds for The Myton Hospices – a place that means so much to our family. In 2019, Myton cared for my Poppa during the final days of his life. The care he received was truly extraordinary – compassionate, respectful, and filled with dignity. The calm, homely environment allowed us to simply be together as a family, sharing moments of love, laughter, and comfort during such a difficult time.
Their support gave us so much strength when we needed it most, and now we’re honoured to give something back in his memory. This journey is especially meaningful because it's also been a lifelong dream of my mum’s to visit India with me – something that’s been at the top of her bucket list for years, and is now at the top of mine. Being able to experience that with her makes it even more special.
We’ll also be celebrating two big milestones on this trek – my 18th and her 60th – which makes the challenge not just a fundraiser, but a beautiful tribute to life, love, and legacy.
I have chosen the ‘sponsorship’ option in order to fund my trek, this means that I have to raise £3600 in total. So any donations of any size are greatly appreciated and are going to such a worthy cause. It’s also important to note that a percentage of the donations will go towards covering the cost of the challenge, with the remaining amount supporting the vital work of The Myton Hospices.
At The Myton Hospices we believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life; we focus on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option.
We are a charity, not the NHS, and must raise £12.7 million of the £15.3 million it costs this year to provide our services free of charge.
Just 17% of our funding comes from the NHS.
Last year, we supported over 2,000 people and their families, in our hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
