Story
Sue was apparently in perfect health until the end of 2024 - walking miles most days, going to the gym regularly. She was ill at the end of the year, and found herself out of breath on even short walks. A few months later, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. With great thanks, she was supported to an immeasurable degree in her final months by the most incredible group of carers, her wonderful GP, district nurses, and the amazing palliative care team. Palliative care deserves far more funding in the UK. Thankfully it is possible to donate to assist with this.

Sue dedicated her professional life to helping others - in particular children and families. Age 20 she was running a Children’s Home on her own. By her late 20s she was in charge of social services for a town near to where she grew up. This path continued across her life: She worked across many counties in England and Wales, helping to troubleshoot where things had gone wrong in local social services departments, across everything from safeguarding children to fostering & adoption, as well as being involved in the roll out of SureStart, and other schemes.
She loved contributing to society, and was extraordinarily grateful for the support she received from the palliative care team and associated services at the end of her life.
Funds are donated to the palliative care team via the 'Bright' charity (registration number 1083122), enabling Gift Aid to take place. All funds are to go to the palliative care team, with charitable fund reference TW002.
