UPDATE: We are always desperate for funds just to keep operating, paying for the expenses of all the dogs in our care and arranging their transport to new homes. Currently (25/7/26) we are looking after a podenco who came into our care from being found as an extreme neglect case in England. Fliss's story and many updates are on the main Podencos in Need page, but suffice to say, her vet bills are expected to run into thousands of ££. This beautiful soul got brought to the UK supposedly for a better life, and what she has suffered here is unimaginable. The whole team despair at this, but we will keep fighting and fundraising for Fliss and all the others. x

11 years ago, I volunteered at a dog shelter on Tenerife - the rest, as they say, is history! 2 months later, my first rescued podenco, Pacita, flew into Edinburgh. Pacita was 10 when she arrived and she lived until very nearly her 19th birthday and was the most fantastic dog ever. In her name, PINS have now rescued over 750 more dogs, mainly podencos and galgos, who have no welfare benefits afforded to them in Spain, hence they are "disposed of" in unspeakable ways.

We will continue to try to empty the ocean with a teaspoon, but at least we know, for the lucky ones, they get a chance at a wonderful new life full of fun, comfort and love.
