Most people know I don’t do cold. I have goosebumps just typing this. If I’m watching David Attenborough wandering around some extreme icy wilderness, I'm wrapped in a blanket, cuddling a hot water bottle and with a hot drink. Yes, I can always switch off, watch something sunnier or get up and do something else.

But the families supported by Abby’s Heroes don’t get that choice. They’re facing situations no one would ever want to imagine and they can’t just change the channel.

So, my cold water swim? It’s only a few minutes of freezing discomfort. If you can support me, you’ll be helping families who are dealing with truly extreme circumstances every single day.

The whole ethos of Abby's Heroes is to place our arm around the shoulders of families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer and support them during treatment. We offer immediate support with Care & Comfort Bags containing a fluffy blanket, toiletries, coffee cup, water bottle, a much needed phone charger and more to help get through the first few hours. Financial Grants to help with the financial burden of having your child diagnosed, practical support, Memory Making grants, Welfare Packs, Counselling service for the entire family, as well as two evening meals and a picnic lunch every week. There is so much more too. Every single penny is vital to help Abby's Heroes provide these services.
