Climbing Ben Nevis · 31 May 2025
My friends and I had planned a weekend away to climb Ben Nevis in May 2025 as was on my bucket list before turning 40…….but due to loosing my Mum to cancer so suddenly we thought let’s do this for a worthy cause and raise money for the horrible disease that is Cancer. It has affected not only me but so many of my friends and family members❤️
My Mum was diagnosed with lung cancer in early March 2025 after feeling unwell for a few months. Although not curable doctors seemed quite positive it was treatable and could extend her life for a good while with Immunotherapy treatment, she done 1 round of treatment at The Princess Alexandria Cancer Ward at Ninewells in April but sadly deterioted quite quickly after this, not due to the treatment just due to the cancer metastasis so we were told treatment would not continue but to expect her to have around 4-6 months left with us.
So we prepared for enjoying the last few months with our mum/nana, but sadly it was only 3 days.
She was taken too soon and we thought we would have more time…..but cancer had other ideas 💔
Any donation you can make toward this charity will be very much appreciated.
With a few sweary words and haribos I’m sure my mum and dad will get us to the top mountain ⛰️ ❤️ 👼
Ninewells Cancer Campaign has been raising money since 1991 to support local cancer research and treatment at Ninewells Hospital. Our initial appeal raised £1 million to establish the Biomedical Research Centre within the University of Dundee Medical School, bringing more than 150 scientists together to create a centre of excellence for cancer research. Further successful fundraising campaigns supported the creation of the Princess Alexandra Cancer Treatment Centre within Ward 32, and the Pat McPherson Centre for Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacogenetics to promote research into more personalised treatments for cancer. Most recently, NCC supported creation of the Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre at Ninewells Hospital, further promoting translational cancer research and fast tracking research findings to improve treatments and outcomes for local cancer patients.
