Pamela's Marie Curie Fund

I received a palliative care diagnosis at the start of this year, and as such have been getting cared for via the hospice in Glasgow
All funds raised are going to Marie Curie the Glasgow hospice who have been an absolute dream in taking care of me, managing my symptoms and pain so that I can enjoy as much of my life as I have left. They have given me so much support and care, making what has been a very hard time a bit easier. Facing multiple organ failure after years of progressive chronic conditions has been hard but I am determined to live the best I can with the time I have left and with Marie Curie this is possible💛🌼
After years of fighting a losing battle against various auto immune conditions( Crohn's, Addisons, Gastroparesis, T1, CKD and the rest) I have accepted that there is no more surgeries or horrible treatments that will make a difference and palliative care is my only option. While this has been hard undoubtedly without the help and support from Marie Curie it wouldn't be possible to cope. They have helped me not only in managing my physical symptoms but also my mental wellbeing. I found it very upsetting to think I won't see my rays of sunshine , my nieces and nephews, grow into the amazing people I know they will be one day. Marie Curie have helped me deal with these feelings and have helped to arrange special treats for us to create memories and spend precious time together.
They have helped me source equipment or have directed me in what is best to buy equipment wise to make life at home easier for myself and my hero 71year old full time all round Wonder Woman mum Janice, they have given her support when needed. They make sure my Dad always has a cup of tea while I am attending the hospice and he is playing my taxi driver/super Dad. It is these little things that make such a deference to patients and their families without Marie Curie it would not be like that.
I have spent much of my time in hospital over the years and it is the last place I want to die, while the NHS staff are amazing they do not have the time or resources to allow people to have a have restful peaceful passing or for that matter manage near end of life holistic care for patients and their family. Marie Curie is here to do take that role please please dig deep in order for them to keep doing so.
I am not one for the poor me and really try to keep my health as private as possible only telling my close family and friends, and even then only allowing a very few know how I struggle day to day so to be open is not easy and certainly not when I am facing my 40th birthday in August looking and feeling like Gollum's wee sister, but I really wanted to raise awareness of chronic conditions and how they can impact someone they slowly chip away till there is nothing else but the strength you get from your family and friends. I've been so blessed with my squad and further blessed with the people looking after me, My Gp and Marie Curie team, by being so open I hope you can help me support them in some way to say thank you and to allow them to continue being there for anyone in every walk of life and their family in the most horrible of times.
