Last year I had a health scare and for a couple of months wasn’t able to exercise as normal, even walking up the stairs left me with a racing heart and feeling like I was going to pass out- this year to celebrate being lucky enough to be fully recovered I decided I should challenge myself and do an event outside my comfort zone- cue The Ba duathlon. Consisting of a 30km hill run (with 1000m ascent) followed by a 100km hilly bike ride taking in the Bealach na ba- the road climb with the highest ascent in the UK and totalling around 2000m elevation.

This is the longest endurance event I’ve ever entered, I have trained as much as the juggle of life with children, work and running your own business allows but I still don’t really know if I’ll be able to complete the challenge. I’m keeping my fingers crossed to make it to the start line and give it my best!

To give me further incentive to dig deep and hopefully complete this challenge, I decided I should attempt to raise money for a local charity -Borders Additional needs group (BANG). We have experienced first hand some of the amazing work that BANG does for children and their families with additional needs in the borders . With recent SBC cuts to support in schools too it seems even more crucial to support organisations like BANG.
