Read-a-thon

PAN UK works to replace hazardous pesticides with sustainable and equitable alternatives in agriculture, urban areas, homes and gardens. We seek change in policy and practices at home and abroad, and support projects bringing real economic, health and environmental benefits to the developing world.

Story

I am reading 150 books in one year, starting on 1st January 2024, to raise money for Pesticide Action Network (PAN) UK.

PAN UK work towards eliminating the use of harmful pesticides/herbicides in agriculture and urban settings in the UK by researching, promoting and supporting alternatives.

They apply pressure on governments, regulators, policy makers, industry and retailers to reduce the impacts of harmful pesticides to human health and the environment.

They do this through information campaigns/reports, scientific research, lobbying on national and international policy, and supporting farmers to transition to organic and ecological farming methods. PAN UK are also planning on taking the UK govt to court this year over their re-licencing of the toxic weed-killer glyphosate.

For more on their excellent and vital work for a safer and healthier planet, see https://www.pan-uk.org/

Ps. I will provide updates (below) on which books I finish and a short review of them, so opt to "follow updates" if you want to read these.
