Paolo's fundraiser for Amnesty International UK

Paris Marathon 2025 · 13 April 2025 ·
As a dedicated supporter of Amnesty International for many years, I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Paris Marathon 2025 to raise funds for Amnesty. I followed and participated to Amnesty campaigns for over 30 years both in Italy and UK. I deeply admire and am moved by Amnesty’s tireless work for everyone’s rights—an inspiring example to follow. It’s an exhausting endeavor that demands immense tenacity, mental strength, clarity of purpose, and even rigorous training, much like running a marathon. I’m proud to wear Amnesty’s colors at the Paris Marathon. I started running just a few years ago, and a marathon is still a significant challenge for me. Being able to contribute to Amnesty’s cause is a powerful motivation.
Amnesty International for many many years has been the main reference on Human Rights for millions of people. They are globally seen as a reliable, independent, active organization that was able to evolve with the times while keeping a steady march for the protection of the human rights of everybody everywhere.
The relentless work of Amnesty International for human rights all over the world is a constant reminder that these rights are under attack everywhere, even here in the UK. We must protect them and never take them for granted.
Recent campaigns include refugee and migrant rights, reports on conflicts such as Ukraine, Palestine and Israel, Rwanda, Iran, Afghanistan, climate change, reproductive rights, LGBTQA+ rights. Amnesty's biggest achievements include outlawing torture, holding war criminals to account and controlling the arms trade.

I strongly believe that every human being has the right to live, to be free, to be able to express themselves as best they can, to develop their potential. I also believe that as human beings we all have to share the burden to protect these human rights for everyone. When injustice happens to one person, it happens to us all.
However these human rights are not set into stone, are not granted, are not seen everywhere in the same way. Human rights evolve and it's difficult to see and accept the changes.
Human rights are also a matter of power, about giving power to everybody. This clashes with those who have more and want to keep their power over other people.
Your support is of significant value - only together can we continue to make a difference. Thank you so much!
