Story
Ayup! Thanks for visiting our just giving page.
As many of you know I lost my dad to stomach cancer on 21st October 2021 and in the last week's of his life he was under the fantastic care of St Luke's Hospice.
St Luke's in a truly wonderful place. Many people may expect or think of it as a sorrowful place and while a lot of their care is end of life care, which will always be sad, this is not my experience. St Luke's to me is a upbeat, positive place that I also found calming and peaceful. The level of care is outstanding, not just to patients but to families too. I will never be able to thank them enough for the care they gave my dad in his final weeks and the support they gave my family then and the support they still give us to this day.
So myself and a group of my closet friends, all of which have helped me through the toughest time of my life, have joined me in teaming up with St Luke's to do the Yorkshire 3 Peaks walking challenge on the 8th June 2024. The walk is 26 miles in 12 hours climbing 1585 meters in the process. Our team is myself, Joe Rowbotham, Billy Keats, Steven Bailey, Niall Crossley, Rob Hayes, Mark Bailey, David Mitchell, Alex Wall, Charlie Shooter and Richard Ashton.
This is not just a walk for St Luke's in memory of my dad it is also in memory to every loved one the group have lost, some of which also spent time in St Luke's. So it is also in memory of Dave Langton, Sheridan Broomhead, John and Thelma Walbey, John Lomas, Brian Pearson, Michael Crossley, Joan Crossley, Walt Howard, Margaret and Gordon Grainger and Brian Ashton.
I know times are tough and you are constantly being asked for money from all over the place, but donations of any size would be greatly appreciated. St Luke's need around £11.5m to run their services for a year and they need to raise £7.5m of this from donations alone, so every penny counts. We have been asked to raise a minimum of £200 per person which would be a fantastic sum of £2,200 for St Luke's if we can manage it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any donations you give.
All the best,
Joe Bolton.
