Story
Adrian Reeves (Senior Relationship Director), Olly Das (Portfolio Manager) and Cameron Barlow (Banking Operations Associate) are undertaking a 52.7‑mile walk from Bedford to our London office to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), Paragon Bank’s Charity of the Year.
Our objective is both clear and ambitious: to raise £100 for every mile walked, with an overall fundraising target of £5,270.
The ‘Walk to Work’ challenge originated from a light‑hearted misunderstanding. During a conversation between Olly and Adrian, Adrian mentioned that he had “walked to work”. While this was not quite as literal as first assumed, it sparked a bigger idea - why not actually walk to work, and turn the challenge into an opportunity to raise money for an important cause?
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is a UK charity dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac deaths in young people. Tragically, many cardiac conditions affecting young people show little or no warning and often remain undiagnosed until it is too late.
CRY works to change this by:
Funding heart screening programmes that help identify potentially life‑threatening cardiac conditions at an early stage.
Raising awareness of cardiac risk in young people among both the public and the medical community.
Providing specialist bereavement support to families affected by the sudden cardiac death of a young person.
Investing in medical research to improve diagnosis, treatment, and long‑term outcomes.
Every mile we walk represents progress towards greater awareness, earlier diagnosis, and lives potentially saved. By supporting this challenge, you are helping Cardiac Risk in the Young continue their vital work - funding screening, advancing research, and supporting families when they need it most.
If you’re able to donate, your support - no matter the amount - will make a real and meaningful difference.
One step at a time. One mile at a time. One life at a time.
Thank you for walking this journey with us.
